Guru Pushya Nakshatra 2026 and Ravi Pushya Nakshatra 2026: Dates and Time

    Astro River Institute · Published 30 September 2026, 07:00 IST · 12 min read

There is no Guru Pushya nakshatra 2026 date left in the year — the next falls in February 2027. Ravi Pushya nakshatra 2026 falls on Sunday 1 November, and that is the one to plan around: the Moon enters Pushya at 05:39 IST that morning, and the Ravi Pushya runs from sunrise — 06:34 in Delhi — until 04:30 on Monday. Two shorter windows sit either side of it — the small hours after Sunday 4 October, and the morning of Sunday 29 November, until 10:59 IST.

In plain words: Ravi Pushya is a Sunday on which the Moon stands in the mansion called Pushya. The tradition counts it among the best days of the year to begin something, or to buy something meant to last. It is the day families ask about before Diwali, when the gold is bought.

Every time on this page is computed with the Swiss Ephemeris, using the Lahiri ayanamsa — the standard Indian correction for the sidereal zodiac. None of it is copied from a printed panchang, the traditional Hindu almanac. The times for Dubai, Singapore, Sydney, London and North America are further down.

    What Ravi Pushya is

Pushya is the eighth of the twenty-seven nakshatras, the lunar mansions the Moon crosses one after another each month. It runs from 3°20′ to 16°40′ of Cancer. Its lord is Saturn. Its deity is Brihaspati, the teacher of the gods, whom astrology knows as Jupiter.

The name means "the nourisher", and the tradition calls Pushya the most auspicious of the twenty-seven. The reasoning is simple: what begins under it is fed, and grows.

"Ravi" is the Sun, and Ravivar is Sunday. When Pushya falls on the Sun's day, the two make a named combination — a yoga — and that combination is Ravi Pushya. When Pushya falls on a Thursday, Jupiter's day, it is Guru Pushya instead. Both are held to stand on their own merit, without needing the rest of the day's panchang to agree.

One more rule decides which days count. A panchang's weekday — the vara — runs from sunrise to the next sunrise, not from midnight. So a Pushya that begins after midnight but before dawn still belongs to the day before. That is how the small hours of Monday 5 October count as Sunday, and so as Ravi Pushya. The yoga is strongest when Pushya is already running at sunrise; the short night windows count, but they are a thin version of it.

There is no Guru Pushya left in 2026 at all. If you are looking for one, the next is Thursday 18 February 2027, and the strongest of that year is Thursday 18 March 2027, which runs the whole day.

→ Every Pushya day through 2027, computed

The 4 October window falls inside Pitru Paksha, the fortnight given to the ancestors, which runs until 10 October (9 October in North America). Many families hold off new purchases and celebrations until it has ended. If yours does, 1 November is your day. Mars, debilitated, is also sitting in Pushya itself that night.

Why 1 November is the one to plan around

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, and Dhanteras on Friday 6 November. Ravi Pushya on 1 November comes seven days before Diwali and five before Dhanteras.

That is why this particular Sunday is asked about so much. Dhanteras is the day the tradition sets aside for buying, and Pushya is the mansion it holds strongest for buying. A Pushya falls in the week before Diwali every year; in 2026 it falls on a Sunday, which makes it a Ravi Pushya.

→ Diwali 2026: the five days, by tithi

The third Ravi Pushya, on 29 November, comes after the festivals are over. It is a short window and in India it ends before eleven in the morning. For anything that needs a full working day, 1 November is the one.

The catch that does not get printed

The yoga is strongest when Pushya is already running as the Sun comes up. On 1 November the Moon enters Pushya at 05:39 IST — and in the east of India the Sun is up before that.

    CitySunrise, 1 NovPushya at sunrise?
Guwahati05:33 ISTNo — the Moon is still in Punarvasu
Kolkata05:42 ISTYes, by about two minutes
    Chennai06:04 ISTYes
    Delhi06:34 ISTYes
    Mumbai06:40 ISTYes

For almost all of India the day holds from sunrise onward. In the far north-east it does not, and a careful reading there starts the window at 05:39 rather than at first light. After 05:39 IST it is Pushya everywhere, without exception: the Moon changes mansion at one single moment for the whole world, and what differs from city to city is only when the Sun rises against it.

    Ravi Pushya outside India

Abroad, the moment is the same; the local clock and the local sunrise are not. In 2026 that changes one of the three dates.

City (local time)Night of Sun 4 OctSun 1 NovSun 29 Nov
DubaiSun 22:44 until sunriseThe whole day, until Mon 03:00Until 09:29
    SingaporeMon 02:44 until sunriseFrom 08:09Until 13:29
    SydneyMon 05:44 until sunrise (06:28)From 11:09Until 16:29
LondonSun 19:44 until sunriseThe whole day, until 23:00None — Pushya ends at 05:29, before sunrise
New York, TorontoSun 14:44 until sunriseFrom sunrise until 18:00None — Pushya ends at 00:29
Vancouver, San FranciscoSun 11:44 until sunriseFrom sunrise until 15:00None — Pushya falls on Saturday

Clocks change three times inside these dates, and the table allows for all three: Sydney moves to summer time on 4 October, London goes back an hour on 25 October, and New York, Toronto, Vancouver and San Francisco go back an hour at 02:00 on 1 November.

So 1 November holds everywhere, and from sunrise itself in the UK, the Gulf and North America. 29 November is not a Ravi Pushya in the UK, the USA or Canada: Pushya there ends before Sunday's sunrise, so the Sunday morning India gets is not theirs. And the night of 4 October reaches North America as a Sunday afternoon and evening — from 14:44 in New York and 11:44 on the Pacific coast.

    What the day is for

The tradition gives Ravi Pushya to beginnings and to purchases meant to last. Gold and silver first, which is why it crowds up before Dhanteras. Then opening an account or a business, signing for a house or a vehicle, starting a course of study, beginning a medicine or a treatment, and any first step in work you intend to keep doing.

It suits quiet, unglamorous starts better than showy ones. Pushya is a nourishing star, not a spectacular one.

One exception, and it is absolute in the texts: not marriage. Pushya is held to be good for everything except the wedding itself. The story behind the rule is that Brihaspati's own marriage was broken into when the Moon carried off his wife Tara, and the mansion is said to carry the memory. Whatever you make of the story, the prohibition is old and it is consistent.

    → Pushya nakshatra in full

    The sky on the day

Three things are worth knowing about 1 November in particular.

Mars has left the mansion, though not the sign. Mars moves through Pushya from 24 September and on into Ashlesha on 17 October at 12:46 IST (07:16 UTC), a fortnight before Ravi Pushya. It stays in Cancer, its sign of debilitation, until 12 November. So on 1 November the mansion is clear of it and the sign is not.

    → Mars in Cancer 2026

Jupiter moves the day before. Brihaspati is the mansion's own deity, and Jupiter enters Leo on 31 October at 12:02 IST (06:32 UTC) — one day ahead of the Ravi Pushya.

Saturn is retrograde. Saturn is the lord of Pushya, and it is moving backwards through Pisces until 11 December. This does not cancel the yoga, which is counted from the weekday and the Moon rather than from Saturn's motion. It is worth knowing all the same, and few panchangs mention it.

What a good day cannot do

A muhurat — a good time, chosen in advance — is a general rule. It is what you use when you do not have a chart in front of you — a good day for anybody, chosen against nobody in particular.

It does not repair a difficult period. It will not make a wrong purchase right, or a bad partner safe, or an unready business work. The strongest day in the panchang is still a day chosen for everyone at once. A moment chosen against your own chart — your dasha (the planetary period you are running), your lagna (the rising sign), the sub-lords under the planets (the finer divisions of each mansion) — is a different instrument altogether, and that is where real astrology begins.

→ Abhijit muhurat, and how a day is really chosen

If your own Moon sits in Pushya, none of the above is about a day at all — it is about your birth star, which runs your dasha and colours your whole chart.

    How the Institute publishes

Three layers, and they are meant to be used in that order.

The pages are free, and stay free. Everything the framework can say in general — the mansions, the houses, the dashas, the sky overhead this year — is published openly and computed rather than repeated. Most people need nothing beyond it.

A written report takes one area of a chart and works it in full. The nakshatra and sub-lord report places every planet to its pada (the quarter of its mansion) and its sub; the wealth and marriage reports do the same for the houses that govern them; a transit report reads one planet's movement against your own chart. A report is read at your own pace and kept.

A private consultation reads the chart whole, live. Lagna, Moon, sub-lords, dasha and the transits overhead, with your questions rather than ours. It is where the judgement sits that no page and no report can carry.

    Questions we are asked

Ravi Pushya nakshatra 2026 kab hai? Sunday 1 November 2026, from sunrise (06:34 in Delhi) until 04:30 IST on Monday morning — the main one. There are two shorter windows: the small hours after Sunday 4 October (00:14 IST until sunrise on Monday 5 October), and Sunday 29 November until 10:59 IST.

What are the Ravi Pushya 2026 dates and time? The 2026 dates are three: the night of Sunday 4 October (00:14 IST to sunrise), Sunday 1 November (sunrise to 04:30 IST on Monday), and Sunday 29 November (sunrise to 10:59 IST). Subtract five hours thirty minutes for UTC; local times for cities abroad are in the table above.

Why does 4 October count, when Pushya begins on Monday 5 October? Because a panchang weekday runs from sunrise to sunrise. The Moon enters Pushya at 00:14 IST, before Monday's sunrise, so those hours still belong to Sunday.

Is Ravi Pushya a good day to buy gold? It is the day the tradition names for it, and in 2026 the 1 November Ravi Pushya falls five days before Dhanteras. The rule is about the timing of the purchase, not about whether the purchase is wise.

Is Ravi Pushya good for marriage? No. Pushya is the one nakshatra the tradition keeps weddings out of, however good it is for everything else.

What is the difference between Ravi Pushya and Guru Pushya? The weekday. Ravi Pushya is Pushya on a Sunday, the Sun's day; Guru Pushya is Pushya on a Thursday, Jupiter's day. Guru Pushya is generally rated the stronger of the two, because Jupiter is the mansion's own deity.

Is there a Guru Pushya in 2026? No. There is no Guru Pushya nakshatra 2026 date remaining, which is why the table above runs into 2027.

Guru Pushya nakshatra 2026 dates and time? There are none left in 2026. The next are Thursday 18 February 2027 from 21:06 IST, Thursday 18 March 2027 for the whole day, Thursday 15 April 2027 until 09:33 IST, the night of Thursday 18 November 2027 from 01:52 IST, and Thursday 16 December 2027 from 09:13 IST. All times are IST.

Guru Pushya kab hai? Next on Thursday 18 February 2027, from 21:06 IST. The best one to plan around is Thursday 18 March 2027, because Pushya holds from before sunrise until the small hours of Friday.

Does Ravi Pushya apply everywhere in the world? 1 November does — from sunrise in the UK, the Gulf and North America, and from later in the morning in Singapore and Sydney. 29 November does not: in the UK, the USA and Canada, Pushya ends before Sunday's sunrise. The table above gives each city.

If I have Ravi Pushya, do I still need a muhurat? For an ordinary purchase, no — that is what the day is for. For something that matters, a moment chosen against your own chart will always beat a day chosen against nobody's.

This page teaches. A muhurat is one factor in a decision, and nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice.

A day that is good for everyone is not the same as an hour that is right for you. That is what a consultation is for.
